I (Iris)
am slowly recovering from the surgery. It is happening in small steps. Pacing myself is difficult; I notice I tend to want to do too much too soon, while my body is holding me back. It is a learning process to truly listen to what I need, as frustrating as that can sometimes be. Resting does not yet feel natural, but I am starting to understand more and more that it is part of the recovery.
Meanwhile, life is not standing still. Behind the scenes, many things are being arranged that are necessary for our next step. The financing for the buyers of our house in Oosterhout has been completed, which is a major milestone in the whole process. It brings peace of mind and suddenly makes everything very real.
We have also made significant progress with packing. Boxes are slowly filling with everything we have built and collected over the years. It is a strange and meaningful process to go through your own belongings, constantly making choices: what comes with us, what stays behind, and what are we leaving behind here?
And then there is finally a date that makes everything feel tangible: we have an appointment with the notary for the transfer of ownership. On the 1st of July, the moment will arrive.
The countdown has truly begun. With every day that passes, the tension grows. We have moments where we look at each other and think: what are we getting ourselves into? Everything feels big, new, and sometimes overwhelming.
But at the same time, we also feel that this is exactly where we are meant to be heading. A new chapter, with everything that comes with it.
