Between recovery, urgency and a new beginning

In the meantime, I, Iris, have undergone a second spinal surgery (spondylodesis). It has forced me to slow down at a time when so much is happening all at once. Danny and my father have, in the meantime, made a quick trip to France to carry out the first urgent repairs. The goal was simple but essential: to ensure the roof does not deteriorate further in the coming months. Not a luxury project, but a matter of necessity. Fortunately, they didn’t return only with a list of urgent work to be done. They also came back with something far more valuable: confirmation of their instinct. They are still extremely enthusiastic about the location, and that gives us confidence moving forward. During their visit, they also heard through the estate agent—who lives in the same municipality—that a new mayor has recently been elected. Once again, the news is positive: she is also very pleased about our arrival. In fact, there is a growing sense of excitement within the local community. The building itself turns out to hold a special place in the area. It is part of local history, and there are still people living nearby who once attended this school. That realisation makes everything even more meaningful. For us, this is the beginning of a new adventure, while for others it is a place filled with memories. And that contrast is exactly what gives our plans even deeper significance.
